Hi, I'm Amethyst.

I've been studying and reading Tarot for more than 35 years, and I've spent much of my career teaching others how to use Tarot for insight, personal growth, and meaningful change. 

Over the years, I've watched new readers get buried under enormous lists of card meanings, complicated correspondences, rules about what they have to do, and the idea that they need some special psychic gift before they can really read Tarot.

I don't believe learning Tarot needs to be that complicated.

I created Hello, Tarot! to give new readers a clear, approachable foundation in the cards - and then help them put what they're learning into practice.

Do I need a Tarot deck?

No. You can absolutely use a Tarot deck you already own, but you don't need to buy one before you begin.

Hello, Tarot! includes a FREE printable Tarot deck for your personal use, as well as a Digital Tarot Tool you can use to draw cards and practice readings online.

Do I need to be psychic or intuitive?

No.

You don't need psychic abilities or a highly developed intuition to learn Tarot. You'll learn the traditional meanings, structure, patterns, vocabulary, and visual clues that give you a solid foundation for reading the cards.

You'll also have opportunities to explore intuition, Tarot Attunement, spiritual connection, and ritual if those things appeal to you.

The mystical side of Tarot is available to explore. It isn't a prerequisite.

Do I need to memorize all 78 cards?

Definitely not.

You'll learn the traditional meanings of all 78 Tarot cards, but you'll also learn patterns that make the deck much easier to understand.

You'll learn how the Major and Minor Arcana work, what each suit represents, how the Court Cards are structured, and how artwork can give you additional clues about a card's meaning.

The goal isn't to memorize 78 definitions before you're allowed to read.

You'll learn the cards by working with the cards.

What kind of Tarot deck should I use?

You can learn with many different Tarot decks, and you're welcome to use one you already love.

For learning, however, I generally recommend a Rider-Waite-Smith-based deck with interactive pips -numbered Minor Arcana cards that depict recognizable scenes rather than simply displaying the suit symbols.

Those scenes give you people, actions, expressions, environments, objects, and other visual clues you can use while you're learning what the cards mean.

And if you don't have a deck yet, don't worry - Hello, Tarot! includes a printable deck you can use.

Is Hello, Tarot! only for people who have never read Tarot before?

Not at all.

Hello, Tarot! starts with the foundations, so someone with absolutely no Tarot experience can begin here.

But it's also designed for people who have already been exploring Tarot for months - or even years - and still feel like their knowledge hasn't quite come together.

How long does Hello, Tarot! take to complete?

Hello, Tarot! is self-paced.

The video lessons themselves are designed to be approachable and easy to work through, but your total completion time will depend on how much time you spend practicing with the cards, completing exercises, exploring your deck, and working through your readings.

You can move through the course relatively quickly or take your time and let the cards become familiar as you go.

There's no prize for speed. The point is to actually learn Tarot.

The total course materials take approximately 2.5 hours to go through.

No. The two courses are designed to teach different things.
